Warm and Well in Merton Campaign

The Warm and Well in Merton campaign is raising awareness of the importance of preparing for next winter and giving support on how best to stay warm and well, helping to reduce the number of winter deaths and winter hospital admissions in Merton. The campaign is running from January 2019 to March 2020 and will provide support through:

1. Warm & Well packs which will include information and advice

2. Information and Advice including energy efficiency advice, money and benefits, transport, housing, health, social care and access to local services

3. Additional outreach to community organisations regarding the benefits of keeping warm and well in winter

4. Welfare grant distribution for items people desperately need when they have exhausted other avenues of help

5. A handy person to support with practical needs within the home

The project is working in partnership with Merton Council, Wimbledon Guild and Age UK Merton. The campaign has taken a phased approach, initially focusing on the wards with the highest levels of deprivation within the borough: Cricket Green, Figges Marsh and Pollards Hill. A number of people have already been supported in these wards, and we are now looking to expand the programme across the borough.
